After approval your profile will be displayed under the University you are attending along with your unique four digit MissStudent number. This is the number you will use throughout the competition and the number people need to vote for you.
Once you have your number and your profile is live, the rest is up to your powers of persuasion!!
All you have to do is to get as many people to vote for you as you can. The more votes you get the higher up the table you go.
University Heats The first round of the competition is the University heats - all voting will be done by text. People can vote for you by texting STUDENT and your unique four digit number to 63333. (Texts cost 50p plus your normal text charge). Votes will be collected from the start of the competition until the last day of the first round of the competition December 31st 2007. The students with the most votes will be displayed in descending order and the top ten students have the opportunity to go through to the next round – The Regional Finals.
The “winning” students, from each University, will be notified by the 9th January 2008 by email. They will be the two STUDENTS with the most votes (the winner and runner up) plus one of the STUDENTS in the top ten who is judged* to be “a popular choice” by having received a combination of the most unique views/or hits and the highest number of unique texts.
If for any reason one of the “winning students” cannot attend the Regional Final the student in next position in the league will be invited to take their place.
*(All judging and verification of votes received will be done by an independent adjudicator – the judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into).
Regional Finals The 3 ‘winning’ Students from each University will be entered into their Regional Final. The Regional Finals will be held in a local venue throughout January, February and March where all the competitors will compete for text votes on the night to win a place in the Grand Final.
Details of dates and venues for the Regional Final will be published on the website as soon as they are confirmed. (The Town where the Regional Final will take place is already published on the website). Finalists will be given first option to purchase tickets for the evening before they go on general sale so they can invite as many supporters as they want.
The evening of the Regional Final will be split into two parts. Part One will see all competitors competing in a semi final to find the 12 most popular students for Part Two. All semi finalists will be invited on stage in their favourite outfit and introduced to the audience. They will have the opportunity to try to entice the audience to vote for them by text. Later in the evening, the 12 semi finalists with the most votes will be selected for the Final Part (Part Two). In Part Two the Finalists will be invited back on stage but this time they will be allowed to say a few words about themselves to try and capture as many votes as they can. Voting will continue to be by text and members of the audience prompted throughout the evening to cast their vote/votes for their favourite STUDENT.
Votes will be collected and results verified constantly to let everyone know who is leading. At the allotted time the voting will be stopped and verified and the winner and runner up will be announced shortly afterwards. The winner and runner up (the two students with the most votes on the night) will be invited to compete in the Grand Final - to be held in April 2008.
Each Regional Final Winner will receive a cash prize of £500 and each Runner up will receive a cash prize of £200 presented at the end of the evening.
If for any reason one of the “Winners or Runners up” cannot attend the Grand Final the student in next position will be invited to take their place, until we have two students from each region attending the Grand Final. Cash prizes will only be awarded once on the evening to the Winner and Runner up.
*(All judging and verification of votes received will be done by an independent adjudicator – the judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into).
The GRAND FINAL The Winner and Runner up from each Regional Final will be entered into the Grand Final, which will be held at a venue to be confirmed in June 2008. The location for the Grand Final will be Derby.
The evening of the GRAND Final will be split into two parts. Part One will see all competitors competing in a semi final to find the 24 most popular students for Part Two. All semi finalists will be invited on stage in their favourite outfit and an Evening outfit and introduced to the audience.
