Once you have your number and your profile is live, the rest is up to your powers of persuasion!!
All you have to do is to get as many people as possible to support you. The more support you get, the more points you get, the higher up the table you go. (Click here for full details on votes/points)
University Heats The First Round of the competition is the University heats. Students will be awarded points for how much support from friends, family and sponsors they can get and how much promotion they do to try to win. There will also be some fun 'student type' tasks set from time to time so that more points can be earned. Points can be collected from the start of the competition until the end of the last day of the First Round - 31st December 2008. FIVE students from each University will qualify for Round Two - the Regional Final. That is the top two students (who qualify automatically) and three others who will be selected as 'Wild Cards' from the top ten. e.g. the remaining eight students from the top ten at each Uni will be invited to their Regional Final. They will meet the judges and the judges will select three 'Wild Cards' from the eight to join the automatic qualifiers in Round Two. In the event of a tie at any stage - ie students who have the same number of points - the student who has achieved more TV, press, or radio support will be given the decision. If for any reason one of the top two, or one of the top ten cannot attend the Regional Final the student in next position in the league will be invited to take their place.
*(All judging and verification of points received will be done by an independent adjudicator – the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into). The top ten students, from each University, will be notified by the 9th January 2009 by email. They will each get 2 FREE ENTRY and VIP tickets to the Regional Final Party Nights. Regional Finals The Regional Final will be held in a night club within the region throughout February and March 2009 where all the competitors will compete for votes on the night to win a place in the Grand Final. Details of dates and venues for the Regional Final will be published on the website as soon as they are confirmed. Finalists will be given first option to purchase tickets for the evening before they go on general sale so they can invite as many supporters as they want.
The evening of the Regional Final will be split into two parts. Part One will see all competitors competing to find the 12 most popular students for the Part Two Final. Part One All finalists will be invited on stage in their favourite outfit and introduced briefly to the audience. They will be given a 'student type' challenge to try to wow the audience and the judges and to prove they have the right personality to be Miss Student UK. Their performance added to their points score and the judges opionion will be evaluated. The 12 students who most impress the judges and are deemed to be the most popular and the most ideal Miss Student candidtaes will go through to Part Two. Part Two The 12 Finalists will be invited back on stage and asked to say a few words about themselves. The judges will decide which student is the winner, runner up and third place. All three will qualify to compete in the Grand Final. (Click here for Date and Venue) Because certain Regions are bigger and have more Universities making qualification a little more difficult up to 6 contestants may qualify for the Grand Final in these regions. Full clarification will be given to all contestants at the Regional Final dependant on the number of entrants. Each Winner will receive a cash prize of £100, each Runner £75 and each third place £25. These prizes will be presented at the Grand Final - if a prize winner does not attend the Grand Final they will forfeit their prize although the organisers may overrule this is the reason for non attendeance is proven to be genuine. If for any reason one of the “Winners, Runners up or Third Place” cannot attend the Grand Final the student in next position will be invited to take their place, until we have three students from each region attending the Grand Final. The Cash prizes will only be awarded to the original winner, runner-up and third place, if they cannot attend the Grand Final they forfeit the prize - this does not pass to the replacement. *(All judging and verification of votes received will be done by an independent adjudicator – the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into).
The GRAND FINAL The Winner, Runner up and Third Place from each Regional Final will be entered into the Grand Final.
The evening of the GRAND Final will be split into three rounds.
